Inspiration Drought

When I am not feeling inspired creatively, or uninspired in general, it’s generally because something has gone out of balance and pulled me off center.

For example, over the last few days, there has been an influx of people not keeping their word (at least 6 people), which in these particular situations has caused much inconvenience. There has also been an ingress of aggressive reactions and behavior that does not match the circumstances wherein it occurs.

These two examples are patterns that are occurring in order that I might learn something, but the learning process is unpleasant and, first, last night I felt that I was just tired after having a deep tissue massage and cupping session and that’s why I wasn’t going to write or paint, but by this morning, I realized my creativity has dried up without a drop in sight.

This evening, I didn’t know what I would write, but decided to write about exactly that.

When the inspiration is gone, what do we do? A few ideas:

  1. Relax, breathe, rest.
  2. As opposed to focusing on a lack of inspiration or creativity, focus on your heart. It is likely that in this center point of awareness that is our heart, you will be able to feel that something isn’t quite sitting right. Ask yourself, how can I care for my heart?
  3. Come back to trust. What’s going on is likely frustrating, stressful, or distressing, or simply unsettling, but resistance undoubtedly makes it worse and blocks the lesson. Instead of resistance, focus on expanding the energy in your chest and allowing the unpleasant feelings in and also inviting in the questions, “What is going on here??
    • In my case, I have consistently found myself in these frustrating situations where of course I cannot control others’ behavior, and what I realized helps me to lift myself out of the frustration is first, to focus on accepting the likelihood that things are acting on my behalf and that I will be taken care of. And, second, to observe humans’ fickle and confusing behavior as part of how many humans exist in this material world, and be almost fascinated by it and focus on understanding it as a phenomenon and side effect of current consciousness and enmeshment with this reality.
    • Your view of the “higher” lesson or viewpoint in your circumstance will likely be unique to you and your journey. But, don’t force figuring it out. Focus on compassion for your feelings, and then opening your heart and chest center with the intention of allowing in an awareness about it.
  4. Whether a new awareness or understanding has come to you regarding what’s happening, take good care of yourself, be gentle, and trust that once your heart has become recentered and full of your own peaceful and calm energy, that eventually the flow of creativity will follow.
  5. You can also always create without inspiration prior to the creation, such as I did with this post, but if you feel discomfort or upset as you do this, best to stop and focus on something where you don’t feel resistance, and then you can try again another time when the resistance has lifted.

Above all else, know that creativity and inspiration are linked with the creative energy of the universe, which is more light and love, peace and serenity, joy and laughter, and so on. So, be gentle when you temporarily are thrown off from being in that direct energetic flow line.
